North Shore Men’s Golf League

Minutes of the Board of Governors

The meeting was called to order at 9am by President Ernie Inge.

The minutes of the July meeting were approved and the roll call was taken by Secretary Gil Friedman.  All teams were present except Mirasol and Tequesta.

VP Arnie Sacher reminded all Governors that player rosters and payments for the invitational were due at this meeting.

Treasurer’s Report:

Gordon Zipf reported we have $2,706 in the account.

Congratulations was given to all the playoff teams and particularly to the two finalists, champion Bear Lakes and Turtle Creek.

Ernie Inge asked the members about continuing the 12 team playoff format and it was agreed and approved to remain as is.  He reminded teams that  hadn’t yet posted their scores that it is the host pro’s responsibility, but allowed that they should wait for CIO Fred Fields return from vacation if they experience technical problems in doing that.

A discussion took place about how to select a course for the final playoff and it was concluded that each of the final four playoff teams list three choices which would then be used to select a course, changing the rules to allow two weeks to settle on the location for the finals.

A few governors noted that an additional web page, perhaps with a playoff ladder, should be provided to make it easy for all players to track the progress of the playoffs.  Harrison Hines & Bill Nichols made a well received suggestion to  alter access to all match sheets on the  web site so that all teams could see the results in order to make it easier to study their opponents.

All Governors agreed that the multi match format and the point quota tournament for the alternates worked out well and will be in place next year.

It was also suggested that we make an effort to get Admiral’s Cove back in the league if possible.

Since fielding a team became difficult for Frenchman’s Creek which was a former member of North Shore it was also suggested that perhaps they could possibly merge with Admiral’s Cove so we could play both those great courses but that idea was turned down by the Governors.

Harrison Hines recommended that a recruiting team be formed, and was encouraged to pursue the subject.

Ernie Inge asked for volunteers to head up a nominating committee to select officers for next year and Chuck Woolard of Jonathon’s Landing was selected.

Every year we have a discussion about moving the tees closer because of the lack of Blue tee players and Barry Johnson of Turtle Creek made a suggestion that we could possibly have two divisions (one for blue tee players and one for white tee players) but most teams did not agree to that format.

There was no further business so the meeting was adjourned at 10:05am. The next meeting will be held on OCT 11th at Jupiter CC who will host, but confirmed that only coffee will be served.

These minutes were prepared by Secretary Gil Friedman.
